Bigger

Alan and Pamela Webster of Aristocars  have added a third Buick to their fleet making Aristocars the only company in Britain offering 3 similar vintage Buicks for hire. Alan and Pamela have also “added” another Webster to the clan. Second child Connor was born in November. Perfect Bridal has added a menswear section, stocking the classy and elegant Spanish designer Javier Arnaiz. Offering “something different” from Highland wear, 3-piece suits complete with knotted tie and dinner suits are available.

Top Tier

For the second year, Cakes by Fiona Barnett were invited to display their cakes at the prestigious international Squires Kitchen Annual Exhibition (the equivalent of London Fashion Week in the cake industry). Cakes by Fiona not only had the opportunity to exhibit at the show, they were also asked to display a cake in the hallowed Wedding Cake Showroom. Fiona took several of her creations down to Surrey, including a Halloween-themed cake complete with pumpkin carriage and horses and a cake inspired by an oriental birdcage featuring a delicate branch of Chinese cherry blossom. As a result of exhibiting at Squires, Cakes by Fiona have also featured in the “Wedding Ideas” magazine.

Up-To-The-Minute

Belmont Bridal have moved to new premises at 43 Union Terrace. Image Fashion completed a total refurbishment in January 2010 and now looks as elegant and stylish as the fashions it stocks. Avorio Bridal now stocks a mother-of-the-bride and range. Avorio is also building new premises which will be complete later this year. McMullan Kilts have become the Hairy Sporran. Sandy Menzies designer jewellery is now available through McCalls. Lisa Stevenson of Aperture has been awarded her Photography Licentiate qualification from the Master of Photographers Association.

Grampian wedding suppliers were once again well-represented in the Voted Outstanding Wedding Supplier (VOWS) awards. Avorio Bridal, who have won the award in two consecutive years, Nicholas Frost, Crafty Cards and Drumtochty Castle were all nominated in their respective categories. The three Grampian winners were Hudsons Catering in the Independent Catering category, Elite Promotions in the Music
