Triple Crown

There were three “GWD” winners in the 2008 Voted Outstanding Wedding Supplier (VOWS) awards. Avorio Bridal was voted Best Bridal Retailer for the second year running, Slanj won the Groomswear category and Crafty Cards the Wedding Stationery. VOWS were set up to recognise an exceptional level of service and companies are nominated and voted for by their clients. Other Grampian businesses nominated for the 2008 awards were Brides Delight, Deeside Cuisine, John Park Jewellers, Elite Promotions, Nicholas Frost Photography and Ewan Kirkpatrick at Drumtochty Castle

Biggest Yet

The 2009 Your Wedding Exhibition (YWE) was the biggest wedding exhibition ever held in Aberdeen, both in terms of the number of exhibitors and visitors. Over the weekend of 17/18th January over 3000 visitors came through the doors to benefit from the over 160 businesses showing their wares.

Bridal Babes

BRIDAL BABIES The 15th January was obviously an auspicious day to have a baby! Leigh-Anne of Avorio Bridal gave birth to Kobie (9lbs 4oz) and Amanda Wright of Belmont Bridal gave birth to Owen Thomas (8lbs 4oz). Congratulations to them both.

Anniversary Year

2009 is a significant year in the Grampian wedding industry. Come the autumn, GWD will reach its 10th anniversary - so look out for a bonanza issue! But before that, many congratulations to Simon Clubb, the piper Julie Brinklow and Brides Delight who are all celebrating 10 years in business in 2009

Moments Bridal has moved to larger, new premises on two floors at 5 Saltoun Square, Fraserburgh. Flowers by Booth have opened in The Courtyard, Cults. Flower Vogue have expanded and are now in 2 units in Aberdeen and a new unit in Banchory. The photograher Nick Frost has opened a new studio at 8 Auchmill Road, Bucksburn and to celebrate is offering free portrait sessions for children under 5 years old.
