VOWS Winners

Aberdeen catering company Hudsons Catering were the dark horse at the prestigious VOWS awards held in Glasgow!  Recognised as the ‘Oscars’ of the Wedding Industry, first time nominees Hudsons, were thrilled to accept the top prize for Independent Catering seeing off tough competition from all over Scotland.  VOWS winners are chosen by brides who feel their nominee has best fulfilled the promise of excellence in all respects for their wedding. Other local winners include Thistle Piping in the best music and entertainment category and Elite Promotions in the best music and entertainment agency category. GWD are proud to have yemore winner in their stable!

Updates

The Tor Na Coille hotel, Banchory is now owned by Drumtochty Castle. The florists Dolce Vita have moved to No 35 Summerhill Drive, Aberdeen. Perfect Bridal Rooms are now the exclusive Scottish stockists of the French range Cymbeline and the Spanish range Rosa Clare. They also now stock Ian Stuart of London mother-of-the-bride outfits. Perfect Bridal Rooms have designer days with Suzanne Neville, Jenny Packham and Hollywood Dreams in January and February 2010.

Film Star

In the Institute of Videography (IOV) awards, Mark Stuart Wedding Films was awarded the Highly Commended place in the Wedding category against extremely tough competition. This award is Mark’s seventh IOV award and sixth successive year to be ranked amongst the top 5 in Europe for his wedding films. Mark Stuart’s entry this year, Lynne and Kevin’s Wedding Day Film, was one of only five short-listed titles within the Wedding category – which is a significant achievement in itself. Judges were not only looking for exceptional video production standards, but also originality and creative flair which demonstrate the value to customers of commissioning a professional videographer.

Susan Evans, who has been running Thank Evans for a number of years, has opened a new lingerie shop in Inverurie. De-Zire has a wide range of lingerie including specific bridal sets. Slanj are now hiring as well as selling kilts, hires start at £49. Bonnie Balloons has become Bonnie Events offering a wider range of services and accessories, such as chair covers.

Family Portraits

Photographer Philip Stewart may be doing more family portraits having just become a father. Philip’s partner, Kerrie, gave birth to Ellen-Belle on 12th August. Congratulations to them both.
