Glowing, glamorous and gorgeous, Aberdeen’s beauty pros are armed and ready with all the fabulous hair, skincare and makeup tips brides need to know now! Rule number one? Practise makes perfect. If you’re considering a new tanning system, a new hairstyle or even new eyeliner, try it out long before you get to the altar. “Experimenting with something new is best left for a night on the town!” says Sarah Costello at Preen Beauty.
Next, Dr. Sam Robson at Temple Aesthetics, who specialise in Priori products, suggests brides begin a skin care regime three to six months prior to the wedding. “I can recommend potent products that actually will improve the quality of the skin and its appearance, as opposed to sitting on the top of the skin and not doing very much,” she says. “We may also recommend skin treatments such as peels, derma roller, IPL (intense pulsed light) or microdermabrasion.”
For spring and summer brides, sun-kissed radiance is in—think pinks, golds and bronzes—while winter brides favour stronger colours and defined lips. “The smoky eye can often vary,” says Sarah, “from a midnight blue to a deep purple, which looks stunning.”
Mobile makeup consultant Hilary Mutch loves the smoky effect as well, since a natural look doesn’t always show up well in photographs. But you don’t have to go crazy. “Grey-brown, like a slate colour, is beautiful; and using it under the eye instead of eyeliner makes it less harsh,” she says. “I often use a cream eyeliner, like Clinique, rather than a liquid, which is harsh as well.”
According to Sheree Hay at Tender Touch, glam 1940s starlets like Audrey Hepburn have continued to inspire brides, as gals go bold with stunning red lips and a neutral face. But perfection is reaching a new level as airbrushed makeup quickly gains popularity. “These systems have been developed through the increasing demand for high definition TV, where the make-up has to be flawless,” says Sheree. “This has now found its way to mainstream make-up, and is perfect for bridal photography.”
