Strange to say but one of the first things a couple preparing for their wedding should think about is how they are going to remember the wedding day afterwards! Apart from the ring on your finger, the only lasting physical reminders of your wedding day will be your wedding photos, so choosing your wedding photographer should be a high priority. Luckily, within Grampian, there are many award-winning photographers to choose from. The bad news is that some of these photographers are so good and so popular that they are booked well in advance, several years in some cases. For some couples the right photographer is important enough to determine the date of the wedding. Several of the Grampian-based photographers have even been flown overseas for weddings!
So who and how to choose? First and foremost, especially if you have a clear idea of the type of photos you want, you need to see examples of the photographer’s work and like their style of photography. The huge majority of photos in the 200 pages of the “Grampian Wedding Directory” are taken by Grampian photographers. You can also visit their studios, see samples of their work at the major wedding exhibitions and visit their websites. While any professional photographer should be able to take the portrait and group shots that proud parents and grandparents will be happy to display on their mantelpiece, you may well be looking for a bit more than that from your photographer. Many couples want photographs which tell the story of the whole day and, rather than a traditional photo album, end up with literally a “storybook” of photos. This type of wedding photography usually involves the photographer being with the bride from early in the day, during all her preparations, as well as before, during and after the ceremony and at the reception. Being “shadowed” by the photographer can mean plenty of un-posed, spontaneous shots but you must be wholly comfortable with the idea of being photographed in such informal, intimate circumstances.
The second most important factor .....
